What’s more, the incredibly talented craftsmen behind these videos have given them their own flair and personality – from coloring and layering to combining colors and creating stylish designs.

From makeup tutorials to cooking videos to DIY projects, YouTube has always been a great platform for a plethora of inspirational and how-to videos. Launching Altenew’s YouTube channel in 2014 has helped the company reach a wider audience and spread creativity one craft video at a time.

Lydia’s Crafty Corner, starring Lydia Evans, Creative Content Team Lead, was the very first video series on Altenew’s YouTube channel. This card making video series is designed to help paper crafters expand their supplies and use them in unconventional ways while practicing different card making techniques. With her bubbly personality and quirky card ideas, Lydia was the perfect person to start Altenew’s weekly YouTube video series.

Who doesn’t love to paint? It’s a great way to de-stress and relax. Altenew’s not-so-hidden gem, Erum Tasneem has always been a staple of the Altenew Card Design Team. Her special video series started thanks to persistent demand from customers and fans. “I think my work attracted Altenew fans because I used color and they liked my coloring. I also pride myself on sharing easy and quick watercolor techniques and telling them to have fun and not think too much about it,” Erum said affectionately. “We covered some really great tips and tricks along the way! While I share advanced accelerated painting sessions, some of my videos focus more on easy watercolor sessions to get people more interested in watercolor painting and not afraid to do it! It’s just a little paint and water! What are you so afraid of?”

Creative Coloring with Erum inspires card makers to step out of their comfort zone and just color in with colorist extraordinaire Erum. “Back when I joined the Altenew Card Design Team, every project I shared on the blog had at least one comment asking for a video,” Erum commented when asked about the humble beginnings of her video series . “I had no intention of making videos because I knew I couldn’t speak or perform if I knew I was being recorded. After a lot of persuasion and a great encouragement from (Altenew CEO) Nabil Rab, I finally started recording my short crafting sessions to get over the fear. It took me 6-8 months to finally create a video.”

For most hobbyists, these videos are equal parts inspiration and entertainment. The incredibly talented Therese Calvird not only sparked her creativity with her video series Take 2 with Therese. Her sense of humor and endearing personality make her weekly YouTube videos a hit among handymen of all levels. In this video series, she shows the beauty and versatility of different Altenew products by creating two different cards using either the same product, technique, elements or colors. She always comes up with such beautiful and creative projects.

One of the most popular requests from Altenew customers is to get new ideas with older Altenew products. Perfect Pairings with Jaycee does just that and more. This YouTube video series is designed to inspire crafters to revive their stash or find new favorites in older Altenew releases. In each how-to video, Video Inspiration team member Jaycee Gaspar uses a new Altenew article from the current month’s release and pairs the product with an old Altenew article from the previous month or older. This unique cardmaking video series challenges cardmakers to reinvent older products and combine them with newer ones.

Jenny Colacicco’s Stylish Card Making Techniques series aims to inspire confidence in the ability to create beautiful and stylish cards. Their card making videos combine style and technique, making them a must-read for any card maker, regardless of skill level. As the name suggests, Inspired by a Card with Nathalie takes ideas from previously created cards and turns them into a whole different paper crafting project – from memorable layouts to DIY home decor. Mixed Media Design Team member Nathalie DeSousa not only highlights techniques in this YouTube series; She also shares awesome design and layout tips and tricks. Altenew’s YouTube video series is rounded off by Terrific Tags with Michelle. In this video series, Michelle Short takes paper crafting to the next level by creating a label and card using the same techniques, products, or color palette. Whether it’s adding dimension or sparking interest, Michelle’s projects are indeed one-of-a-kind.

Altenew not only celebrates diversity in his product designs, but also in his team. This is highlighted in the unique inspiration and ideas brought by each designer. “I think where I come from (Pakistan) the country’s culture is literally so rich and colourful. We have vibrant colors everywhere you look, from flowers to different types of ethnic patterns, prints, fabrics and even our truck art,” shared Erum. “So all of that influenced my sense of style and it shows in my projects. I have a different way of thinking about colors and how they work together. So when I use these colors (in my videos) that are unique and different from the way others incorporate them into their work, they get inspired and start thinking about how I’m doing it or where I’m from . This allows them to expand their color palette and explore a unique range of color combinations.”
