We need a moments and memes calendar on the internet. Every day is filled with drama, moments and fire memes, especially on Twitter.
From videos to comments to “tea,” here are some of my best.
If any of this offends you on a personal level, well… oops!
2022 Best Internet Moments and Memes
Bully and Miss Mandy
My co-workers really wanted it to read like “Billy and Mandy,” so I had to match that. Anyway, back to the actual story.
A former Capital FM host and YouTuber named Mandi Sarro found herself on the wrong side of the Twittersphere in January. Mandi had been called out by a former colleague for being a bully and making his life at work unbearable. Miss Mandi would even allegedly laugh at her colleague because he couldn’t afford to order fancy food for lunch.
Kenyan on Twitter – KOT – is having a big day with the memes and reactions.

Miss Mandi apologized, but a little late in KOT’s “cancellation” efforts.
4am at Omoke
GK Nyambura, a content creator in Kenya, has been featured in a viral video yelling at her ex’s house at 4am. Omoke, the ex, filmed GK and shared it on his social media pages. In her defense, she claimed she was there to collect her clothes.
Fam why the hell did this girl break into my house at 4am? 😭😭😭
Appears at my door. Please reconciliation. When I don’t let her and two friends in, she breaks my flower pots, then this follows 😂 pic.twitter.com/XJOqXiibIm

In fact, there’s a song called 4am at Omoke’s that’s out there with her screaming as a sample.
A Kenyan’s funny pronunciation of the “password” went viral in April. The incident happened during a TV report in which another Kenyan was talking about a password problem in a primary code.
One guy stressed “password” with a Luo accent every time it was mentioned. Passwaaad! Occasionally he screamed.
He secured his place in the memes and stickers going around this year.
Ever since Kenyan musician Stivo Simple Boy burst onto the scene, he’s secured his spot on the meme calendar. Of course, Simple Boy has a way of making the most memorable and amusing statements in interviews. Freshi Barida is a slogan taken from an interview Stivo conducted.
He later made a song of the same name and also trademarked the slogan. Now he has released a drink with the same name!
Shawwry for the forest
Sheng’ (Swahili/English slang) has developed so much that it has its own branches. From Eastlands to Muthaiga, there are a few variations depending on the area you grew up in.
In a random video interview, someone asked a young man about a variety of topics, including Nobel laureate Wangari Maathai. His only job? say her name His answer? The Sharry (lady) for the forest. Generation Z!
Ombachi swimming lessons
Kenyan rugby star and food content creator Dennis Ombachi recently shared a video of himself throwing his son into a swimming pool. The video drew mixed reactions from Kenyans, with many wondering why Ombachi was torturing the baby.
Ombachi revealed his son had been taking water safety classes, and he wanted to see if he learned anything. But if it’s done that way, it’s no wonder I can’t swim yet.
4 weeks since we started water safety classes and my son graduated today, officially WATER SAFE!
In the final class, he is allowed to wear 4 layers of clothing, including two diapers, which more than doubles his weight in water.

Kata Sim Kata Sim, Tupo Site!
This is the latest craze on Kenyan social media. It’s a challenge series on TikTok, a popular sound on Instagram and in your friends’ captions. Translated, it is a person telling another on the phone to end the call because they are already at the ‘location’.
Kata Sim Kata Sim, Tupo Site! Of course I had to look for the original video.
There’s more, and we’re only halfway through the year. As such, I will update this article throughout the year. Keep checking back!
