How celebrities wear PVC heels – no celebrity styles them the same way – The Zoe Report | WHs Answers

Celebrities always have their finger on the pulse of major fashion trends. Even those who have their go-to forever pieces usually try out—or fully embrace—the current pieces. Avid street style watchers may have noticed that celebrities seem to be favoring the “invisible” shoe trend lately. The look gained popularity in 2016, when Kimye (ie Kim Kardashian and Kanye West) dabbled in the see-through shoe look, and since then celebrities have been sporting their PVC heels with everything from red carpet premieres to their vacations in Europe. And that’s the one style you want in your shoe rotation this year and beyond.

According to fashion designers from brands like Stuart Weitzman, Malone Souliers and Jessica Rich, a PVC shoe is the new nude pump. “I think now all footwear brands are looking to include PVC in their collections because it goes with everything in your closet,” Jessica Rich, owner and designer of her eponymous footwear label, tells TZR. “For celebrities, the shoes can be dressed up or dressed down. Also, PVC shoes stay high, which is why I think so many celebrities choose them over other materials.”

It is worth noting why these “invisible” shoes have become popular again and what trends you can expect in this area in the coming months. Seasoned street style observers will recall that the PVC shoe trend in the Kimye era revolved around fully translucent straps and neutral hues—think Yeezy’s translucent heels. Conversely, the 2022 vinyl shoe trend includes more colorful iterations. For proof, check out Kylie Jenner’s transparent orange sandals, which perfectly matched the hue of her outfit while still maintaining the barely-there “nude” look.

“It will be maximalist styles, with more dramatic and daring silhouettes, plus stones and other embellishments,” says Mary Alice Malone, founder and creative director of Malone Souliers. Edmundo Castillo, Global Head of Design at Stuart Weitzman, agrees: “We’re going to see more surfaces on plastic – not just clear, but shades of color like blue, purple, touches of silver, iridescent surfaces… It’s starting to come together take new directions and you can still wear a red shoe that’s ‘naked’.”

The celebrity outfits ahead reflect the sartorial versatility of the PVC heel. If you love how someone styled their shoes, recreate their look by purchasing similar pieces.

Kendall Jenner

Already in June 2022, Jenner took part in the viewing of The Kardashians on Hulu and wore an outfit that felt both business and cocktail-ready at the same time. The model arrived at the event in a vintage skirt suit from Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 2007 couture collection and paired it with a very modern shoe – a pair of invisible sandals from Yeezy Season 6 – for contrast. Jenner’s exact sandals launched in 2018 and promptly sold out. Luckily, Schutz has a similar shoe available ASAP. Copy her entire look using the items below.

Stallion paired her red PVC mules with a bright red risqué ensemble while attending BeautyCon in 2019. The rapper walked the pink carpet in a scarlet blazer, which she styled as a dress with a Chanel belt at the waist. Then the singer slipped on an equally vibrant lace-embellished bra underneath and swapped the pants for Fendi tights covered with an FF logo all over. While Stallion’s exact items are no longer available for purchase, you can still pre-build her OOTD with nearly identical pieces.

Staying true to her glamorous yet effortless style, Gomez donned an “invisible” shoe covered in crystals Saturday night live After party in May 2022. For shoes, she chose a pair of iridescent PVC mules from Paris, Texas. She paired the princess shoes with a black strapless dress by GAUGE81 to complete the nighttime look.

Jennifer Lopez

In May 2022, Lopez went out to have lunch with her mother Guadalupe and then-fiancé Ben Affleck at Soho House in Malibu. Her daytime look consisted of a navy blue horsebit mini dress from Gucci and a pair of PVC platform shoes. The singer’s brown open toe style is courtesy of Andrea Wazen. For those who want to try out their casual chic lunch date look, grab a similar platform style from the same brand below.

According to Jenner, PVC heels are the perfect shoe for a date night. Just a few weeks ago, in early July 2022, the beauty mogul and Travis Scott made a rare public appearance as they headed to Catch Steak LA. Jenner styled her barely-there orange PVC heels by Alexandre Vauthier with a two-piece set by Rick Owens in a matching shade of orange. Copy her monochromatic ensemble with similar pieces ahead.
