The Umbrella Academy uniform
No costume from this show is more recognizable than the iconic Umbrella Academy uniform. If the blazers, knee socks and argyle sweater vests make your dark academic heart sing, then this is the Halloween costume for you. Get your siblings to dress up with you, or alternatively go as number five when flying solo this Halloween.
It’s practically a requirement of any superhero show to have a brooding all-black assassin character. Enter Diego – but don’t worry, he really is a softie inside and secretly hates needles.
Dress in all black (leather jacket, windbreaker, turtleneck — whatever you’ve got!) and don’t forget the eye mask and docs to complete the look.
What better excuse for a red catsuit than Halloween? It’s that one day of the year when no one bats an eyelid no matter how outlandish your outfit, and you’ll feel like a superhero for a night. (Flying skills not included!)
Grace aka “Mom”
What, you’ve never had an android mom?! Ok, well, neither do we, but we do do think Grace makes an excellent Halloween costume, especially if you’re crazy about 1950’s fashion. Look for a soft midi dress with a full skirt, then pair it with a white apron that ties around your waist. Complete the look with a pearl necklace (your mom or grandma might have one hidden in a jewelry box) and you’re good to go!
Cha Cha and Hazel
Well *this* is the kind of couples costume we can stand behind! Partners in crime, Cha Cha and Hazel know how to dress in a good suit – Cha Cha wears a corset under her jacket to set Hazel apart in order to stand out elegantly. Amazon has animal masks to score you and your boo if you’re planning on dressing up as these assassins, and they’re absolutely tailored to the TV show.
You may already have all the pieces of this outfit in your closet, making it the perfect last minute Halloween costume. You are welcome! And if you don’t, luckily these are staple purchases that you’ll carry past Halloween.
Allison is a famous actress in The Umbrella Academy and knows how to rock a prom dress on the red carpet, but she loves wearing a leather motorcycle jacket and comfy pants just as much — if not more. Complete your look with a dark wig with bangs and you are done.
60’s Allison Hargreeves
If motorcycle jackets and leather aren’t really your taste, can we suggest dressing up as a 1960’s Allison instead? When the Hargreeves siblings were shipped back to Dallas in the ’60s, we were gifted with the ~magic~ that is Allison’s totally retro style. Dig out that vintage dress you saved—this costume is the perfect excuse to wear something that reminds you of days gone by.
Klaus is the most fashion forward of all the Hargreeves siblings and of course he has some interesting fits to try, but today we’re specifically talking about this shearling coat. Yes indeed. This site offers a pretty recreation to the point (it’s so trendy too!), but if this coat is beyond your budget, we recommend creating a similar effect with a fabulous feather boa and a regular black leather jacket.
Hellooooo, fabulous! If Halloween is a truly fashionable annual affair for you, this costume could be just the ticket. A red, black and white color palette is the name of the game – look for fascinator hats, birdcage veils, fingerless gloves and of course red lipstick and nail polish. Your photo shoot awaits!
