Local elections 2022: Registration deadline for council candidates now open
Closes Friday 12 August at 5pm

Elections in San Ramon

A municipal election is held in the city of San Ramon Tuesday, November 8, 2022for the following San Ramon City officials:

  • mayor
  • Councilor, District 2
  • Councilor, District 4

The nomination submission period is now open and closes at 17 o’clock on Friday 12 August 2022.

The nomination period is extended to Wednesday, August 17, 2022, 5:00 p.m. if an incumbent does not apply for re-election by Friday, August 12, 2022, 5:00 p.m

Candidates must make an appointment with the City Clerk’s Office to receive and submit nomination materials.

To run for office, a candidate must be a U.S. citizen, registered voter, and registered in the political subdivision for which you are running. The office is non-partisan.

Public art project “Picture This” now live

Imagine that

The temporary public art exhibition “Picture This” is now in the Tri-Valley! Local artists have painted 33 large frames that have been placed in the Tri Valley cities, including eight frames in the city of San Ramon in remarkable places to visit.

Visit the frames and take a picture and share your picture on social media #PictureThisTriValley and #PictureThisSanRamon. Don’t forget to tag your location so others can find your favourites.

“Picture This” is a temporary public art project by the City of San Ramon, City of Danville, City of Dublin, City of Pleasant and City of Livermore in association with Visit Tri-Valley.

San Ramon’s next chief of police: Denton Carlson

Denton Carlson

After a nationwide search Denton Carlson San Ramon was chosen next Chief of Police. Carlson currently serves as a Captain with the San Ramon Police Department and has over 24 years of experience as a peace officer-including 20 within the municipality of San Ramon.

Carlson will become San Ramon’s fifth police chief, replacing former police chief Craig Stevens, who retired on March 25, 2022 and served as interim chief during the hiring period.

Carlson will take the oath of office at the City Council meeting Tuesday, July 26th at San Ramón Town Hall (7000 Bollinger Canyon Road). The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Chief Stevens will also be honored for his service at this meeting. Members of the community are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Spend a perfect summer evening with friends and family at the San Ramon Amphitheater in Central Park (12501 Alcosta Blvd) with the next show our summer concert series This Sunday 24th July at 17:30with ultimate party band David Martin’s house party (pictured). Bring a blanket or low-backed lawn chair and get ready to rock the night away!

A selection of savory and sweet food truck options from The food truck mafia will be available every week. Stop by Foodtrucks this Sunday Crazy empanadas and Rosie’s Mexican truck. Wine, beer, soda and water are also available for purchase.

Three-stream recycling stations are now provided at each summer concert. If you use disposable cans, bottles (Recycle) or compostable paper plates and napkins (Organic substance) look at the (Recycle / Organic substance / garbage) Cart and separate your waste to make these events more sustainable. Together we can create a zero-waste San Ramon.

The Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the City of San Ramon, Chevron and the San Ramon Arts Foundation. Concerts run weekly Sundays at 17:30 until August 7th at the Central Park Amphitheater (12501 Alcosta Blvd).

Shading structures, tents and umbrellas are only allowed on the top of the ridge/hill to ensure sight lines remain open.

San Ramons Academy for Citizen Planning returns this fall!

This free 5 week course takes place on The town hall (7000 Bollinger Canyon Road). Monday in the evening at 6:30 p.m beginning 12th Septemberwhich provides an overview of why cities plan, how planning shapes the community, and the land use planning process.

The course concludes with a Mock Planning Commission Meeting where participants act as planning commission, developer and resident.

After the course, the course participants are officially recognized at a city council meeting.
